The newest Huracán, named the ‘Tecnica’ has arrived. Here’s everything you need to know.
Huracán. One of Lamborghini’s most successful models, renowned for its glorious 10-cylinder engine, has been constantly updated since it was originally revealed in late 2013. It has been over eight years since the word ‘Huracán’ was first uttered, but remodelled and more technologically advanced variations, including the Performanté and EVO, have launched almost every year. The most recent model was the STO; the track-ready, ridiculously quick race car for the road. It was thought that maybe this would be the last Huracán, but boy, were we wrong.
This is the Tecnica – it’s believed this will be the second to last V10 model before Lamborghini convert to making a hybrid V8 iteration of the Huracán in 2024. What a sad day that will be, however let’s focus on the present. The car slides into the gap between the everyday EVO and the track-ready STO, and Lamborghini are aiming for a high amount of sales in this market. Powered by the identical 5.2 litre V10 system as its track-focused sister, the Huracán Tecnica boasts an almighty 631bhp. However, it’s two-tenths slower to 100kph than the STO. The rear downforce has been increased to that of the EVO variant though, with an upwards climb of +35% nothing to be chuffed at. Drag has also been reduced by -20% to that of the EVO.
According to Lamborghini, the Tecnica is ‘developed for pilots seeking driving fun and lifestyle perfection on both road and track’, and with newly innovated brake cooling improvements, the car will be extremely nimble on and off track. The three modes of ‘Strada’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Corsa’ all affect the levels in which dynamics such as traction control and rear-wheel steering operate, enhancing agility and straight-line speed. The familiar 7-speed gearbox ensures crisp and beautiful shifting; all the while benefiting the driver’s experience.
At first glance, the Huracán Tecnica seems to use the base design of generic Huracán models, while implementing the new design DNA of models such as the Sián. This can be seen through the new Snake-Tongue shaped vents under the headlights and throughout the proportional values all the way to the rear bumper. The car’s new styling also gives me nostalgic vibes for the Gallardo, specifically the Gallardo Superleggera. The design is completely aerodynamically focused, with lightweight engineering such as a fully carbon hood, encapsulating what this car is truly about. It’s bold, sharp, and beautiful. I truly cannot wait until the cars start to be specced for owners, and delivered to the world.
